Tilín, tilín... tolón, tolón...
Tengo una vaca lechera, no es una vaca cualquiera,
me da leche merengada, ¡ay! que vaca tan salada,
Tilín, tilín... tolón, tolón...

The origin of the rainbows
- Hi there Negrita! Come here with me under the barn, I told the cow when I saw her getting all wet
- Don´t you like the rain 99?
- I sure do! It´s good for the crops and it feels even better when followed by a rainbow
- Thanks
- Why do you thank me Negrita? I was complimenting the good heavens not you
- She gave me a look and said, So... you don´t know about the Celestial Cows attributes and responsibilities?
- What???
- I guess your Mom didn´t tell you. Oh! sorry 99, I remember now, your Mom is not a cow...
- Of course she´s not!
- Well, my Mom was and she told me what her Mom told her she knew from her own Mom
- And that is...?
- Rainbows are part of the Celestial Cows responsibilities.
- Tell me more Negrita
- See, we Terrestrial Cows moo and give milk to feed the bodies. Celestial Cows sing and paint to feed the spirits. We are very organized. I am a TC and will become a CC in some years
- You mean when you pass away?
- Yep. I´m still choosing my color and tune. When I was young I wanted to be a red and sing thunders but as time passed I´m more inclined to green and laughter. Anyway, there´s no rush to pick...
- You mean you can pick?
- Yep, it´s called free will and it works there as it works here. Maybe you can help me choose, 99
- Actually I like green and I think it would suit you but I´ve never heard laughter coming down from the skies. I don´t think I can be of any help to you Negrita, I still don´t get much of that heavens stuff. So what else did your Mom tell you about the rainbows?
- She told me that every CC in the Celestial Herd has to weave rainbows by milking out her color after each rain
- How come that there are not always rainbows after all rains?
- It´s simple, 99. There are not that enough CCs to cover the whole skies in the world plus most of CCs were TCs from tropical areas of the planet and they get very confused when it snows
- Gotcha now, I laughed at the cow, I guess you´re not that organized after all, ah Negrita?
- You´re wrong again. We are very organized. We reincarnate until we learn... Hey 99! I like the sound of your laughter! it goes well with green! ... can I borrow it?

Margot and the posts
- Are you concerned Negrita?
- Hi 99, a little... remember my friend Margarita?
- I have the feeling I´ve met her once. Isn´t she 2008 milk cow National prize winner?
- Right. Margarita was able to give 28 liters of milk per day when milked with tango music.
- What a cow!
- Yeah... and all the bulls in the ranch were dying for her. When she was present the rest of us were invisible to our males...
- I didn´t know cows could be jealous.
- Oh no! Of course we can be jealous but none of us were jealous of Margarita. We were proud of her and everybody wanted to be her friend and give milk with her charm.
- Why do you speak in past tense?
- Way too much applause and posts finally got into her soul. After so much of those posts watching she became obsessed with both applause and posts.
- So?
- After a while the posts around the tambo became boring for her. She was also aware that Argentina´s dairy industry is sinking and she decided that since a champion like her was so badly paid here she should take off to conquer other pastures.
- What did she do?
- She traveled the world and tried everything that had to do with posts. Everything that had to do with applause. Everything that had to do with tango music.
- So she must be happy, I told the cow that was still looking concerned
- I´m not so sure... I have just received a postcard form her. She´s in
- Why not?
- For one, milk cows don´t like children because children don´t like milk.
- I liked milk when I was a kid.
- That was chocolate milk, 99, sighed the cow, also I noticed in the photo that she looks dry and sad. She bleached some spots of her hair and she´s not attracting bulls any more.
- Maybe the music still makes her happy and she really doesn´t like the weather...
- I don´t think so. Tango 24 hours a day? Come on, gimme a break! said Negrita a little pissed. Be serious 99, who cares about the weather in
- And you´re concern about her coming back because tambos are closing and she might end in a slaughter house?
- No!
- Sorry, I don´t get it Negrita
- Look at this, said the cow unrolling the postcard and showing it to me, You know nothing about tango, do you 99?
- Not much...
- She changed her name to Margot for Christ sake!, she added, “Ya no sos mi Margarita, ahora te dicen Margot” Does it ring any bells? It´s about her soul. You´ve learned nothing today, and she left really pissed at me.
I don´t understand cows at all and I still don´t have a clue of what she was saying. I´ll ask her again next time when she´s in a better mood.
Or maybe I better check some tango lyrics before doing so.

Argentina: no milk today, no dairy tomorrow
Breaking News -ENG
Industria Láctea -- Protestas -SP
The bottle stands for lorn, a symbol of the dawn
No milk today, it seems a common sight
But people passing by don't know the reason why
...
How could they know just what this message means
The end of my hopes, the end of all my dreams
...
No milk today, it wasn't always so
The company was gay, we'd turn night into day
But all that's left is a place dark and lonely
...
No milk today, it wasn't always so
The company was gay, we'd turn night into day
...
How could they know just what this message means
The end of my hopes, the end of all my dreams
...

Strike 2 coming up
and sooner than you expect.
Here in Argentina, land of the grass fed cattle, a deaf government is irresponsibly pushing ranchers to bankruptcy and they are already thinking in going back to the roads in protests.

Strike 1
On Monday morning I saw the cow coming right to the trough.
I noticed that she had lost some weight. She looked dirty and walked with a limp.
After a long drink she sat down and sighed. She looked terrible.
- I need a rest, she said. - Hi Negrita! Everybody here was waiting for you. Where have you been?
- Hi 99. I was out there on the roads.
- On road 51? All this time?
- Not only on road 51, I walked all the way to road 9 in the North, to road 14 on the East, I even went to the Patagonia roads.
- You must be very tired Negrita. Why did you travel that much?
- I´m exhausted. 99, are you the only person in the country that doesn´t know what happened in the last 4 months...?
- I know a little. The campo made big headlines and the protest hit hard on all of us. Hey... I didn´t know you were an activist, please tell me more.
- When your very own flesh is in dangerous hands you have moo out loud, she said.
- Danger?
- Sure! Don´t you know that Argentina´s National debt payments depend on cow´s flesh
? The value of the notes has my name and my herd friends names written on them. Look, prices of meat are linked to the value of the restructured Argentine External Debt bonds through INDEC indexes. While the government wants to keep the value down at all possible cost more and more cheap cattle are being slaughtered at younger ages... even pregnant cows are sent to the market! It´s not even about food it´s about money. You didn´t know? You´re supposed to know!
She gave me such a look that I shut up.
- I´ve been in the pickets all this time and talked to many others,
and she continued,
On road 205 I met truckmen striking in support of farmers and farmers helping them with food and shelter.
On road 8 I met an angry bull that told me about the past months drought in the N
orth and the displacement of cattle for soy.
He also told me about the big soybean oil and cereals exporters and the tremendous deals they were doing by buying cheap from captive farmers and selling at very high prices without paying the right taxes.
- I read about that. It´s a shame, I said. Although it was crazy and violent even in the big towns you don´t think that I hid my head under the ground, do you?
- Of course not, I know you. Sorry if I was rude 99, she apologized. I am so tired and heard so many stupidities from fundamentalists in favor of the government measurements, she took a breath... allegedly to feed the poor people when they were only favoring soy plantation´s concentration in their own friends hands, she took another breath... I´m a little sensitive.
- Negrita, half of the people are below average, I said, trying to make her smile but it didn´t work. Try to look at the bright side, the Congress finally stood up and ended the escalation.
- Some people at the Congress did but the nonsense is still there. Have you heard any kind of change in the agricultural politics?
- Nope
- Me neither, she yawned. I gotta get some sleep 99, please wake me up when the hay truck comes there´s almost no grass to eat here. I´ll tell you more later...
- Sleep with the little angels Negrita.
I don´t think she heard me. She was already snoring.

I really don't know clouds at all
Rows and floes of angel hair
And ice cream castles in the air
And feather canyons everywhere
I've looked at clouds that way
But now they only block the sun
They rain and they snow on everyone
So many things I would have done
But
I've looked at clouds from both sides now
From up and down, and still somehow
It's cloud illusions I recall
I really don't know clouds at all
Moons and Junes and Ferris wheels
The dizzy dancing way that you feel
As every fairy tale comes real
I've looked at love that way
But now it's just another show
And you leave 'em laughing when you go
And if you care, don't let them know
Don't give yourself away
I've looked at love from both sides now
From give and take, and still somehow
It's love's illusions that I recall
I really don't know love
I really don't know love at all
Tears and fears and feeling proud
To say I love you right out loud
Dreams and schemes and circus crowds
I've looked at life that way
Oh but now old friends they are acting strange
And they shake their heads and they tell me that I've changed
Well something's lost, but something's gained
In living every day
I've looked at life from both sides now
From win and lose and still somehow
It's life's illusions I recall
I really don't know life at all
It's life's illusions that I recall
I really don't know life
I really don't know life at all
